Write Them Down…

One thing that I do a lot that I think is worth talking about here is making random notes throughout the day. I think it is a good idea to carry a notebook around or some little note cards or something to write on. Ideas can pop up at any time. The human memory is actually pretty weak at preserving and nurturing new ideas. Many great ideas are dead because they were thought up and never preserved to a piece of paper.

I personally carry around a notepad all the time. Most of my ideas come while I am driving. I like to write about new business ideas, new ideas for blog posts, investing ideas and so on. I’ve been honked at when red lights turn green and I’m still mid-thought-to-paper…

Another good idea is to keep some sort of file of your ideas. Keep a card file, set aside a drawer or a cabinet, even a shoe box will suffice. If your ideas aren’t put in to motion right away, you can reevaluate them later. Some may seem like no good and you can discard them (The idea you came up with while out drinking with your pals) and some may even seem better now than they did before. At some point in your life, you may be more financially able to put a plan in to action or you may be finished with school or a big project at work and it just seems like a good time to move forward.

Creative minds know ideas can sprout up any time. Make sure you are prepared.
