“Most people achieved their greatest success one step beyond what looked like their greatest failure” - Brian Tracy
“Many of life’s failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” - Thomas Edison
There’s a story my dad once told me called Three Feet from Gold. I’m not quite sure where he read it but it has always kind of stuck with me. The story is of a goldminer who has spend his whole life digging for gold. Every year he’d buy new, expensive equipment to do it better and faster. Year after year the miner dug and dug with no success. He kept throwing more money in to his project and kept digging. He eventually got so fed up with never finding the gold and striking it rich that he just gave up and sold the land and the mine. The man who bought the mine struck gold the very next day. It was only three feet further.
This story, to me, is so inspiring. It has been a great example of why someone should never give up on their dreams. The family business that I work for is not the most successful in the world but we keep on pushing along with this little story in the back of our minds. We know that one of these days, something we do or develop is going to really take off.
Joe and I are starting various web ventures and we know that once we’ve started, we are in it for the long haul. Lay the groundwork, open up shop, promote the system and never ever give up. One day we will strike gold.
