Great idea. I’d stay away from the light bulbs though. Not so much fun. Another idea is to put a $5 cap on gifts and see how far people can make $5 go.

@Mrs. Micah – I totally agree that some of these are better suited for some people over others. In fact, I read a blog that listed Quicken as one of the worst Christmas gifts that you can possibly give someone. You never know though. A lot of these would make great gifts to treat yourself to…

@Free From Broke – It’s a great idea. People spend so much money every year on keeping stocked up with bottled water. Having a water filter seems like so much more of an economical answer.

I totally agree with a good water bottle and water pitcher. When I work out I grab the bottle and fill it with the Brita filter. I’ve gone a step further and bought Gatorade powdered mix. I’ll mix up a bottle the night before my workout.

Those are cool ideas–of course some are more suitable for people than others. I wouldn’t be too thrilled with a tire gauge, for instance, even though I know its importance. But a programmable thermostat speaks my language.
