step by step? hmmmm the rich dad poor dad has said it all that was needed to know on how to be financially independent. people who want to know the step by step i mean literally to get rich is dumb, you cant follow the same road expecting the same outcome, its all up to you, if that was the case everybody can become donald trump! but you cant, because even if you follow donald trumps business decisions you might come up with a different outcome. There is no get rich quick book, if there was evrybody should be rich by now....Can you get rich by reading Rich Dad Poor Dad? why? because it motivates you and teaches you some important lessons that applies to your business life...

[...] Thoughts on Robert Kiyosaki by How I Will Be Rich - Nice breakdown of Robert Kiyosaki (probably best known for the Rich Dad, Poor Dad book). I have yet to read anything by Mr. Kiyosaki, though my impressions from seeing him on TV and reading about him tend to lean toward the negative side. However, I do want to read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and see what I think. [...]

To tell you the truth, I think the rest of his books are more of the same thing. You can only reword and rework the same story so many times. I guess if Rich Dad Poor Dad really inspires you and really gets you to change your philosophy on money and investing then maybe his other books would be good for you. Like I said in my post, I think he is a great writer and a great story teller but just keep in mind that a lot of his story is fiction. His other books could have the same ability to inspire you as Rich Dad did.

The comment above from Matt has some suggestions for some other books. I haven't read those but I definitely plan to check them out. Maybe they would be suitable for your next book. I recommend Your Money or Your Life and The Millionaire Next Door. They explain the real proven path to wealth that any one can achieve, no matter what your chosen profession is. Spend less than you earn and invest wisely. That's the real secret to being rich in your future.

You have a very good point here. Actually I am reading the book "Rich Dad Poor dad" at the moment. I was a bit annoying to read this post, since I really enjoy reading the book. But knowing it is a fiction story, it really it not the same anymore. I am not sure if I should be the other books as well. Would you recommend them?

If you are going to read any Kiyosaki books you should really read John T Reed's analysis of Kiyosaki at http://www.johntreed.com/Kiyosaki.html

He basically takes apart all of Kiyosaki's points and shows that 99% of the content of the books are either wrong, illegal, or simply made up. Kiyosaki succeeds only in getting non-financial people to think about personal finance since he makes it sound so easy and profitable.

I have never read John Reed's books but his summation of his own books says that he provides specific, detailed real estate strategies while being realistic about what each takes.

Based on that analysis I agree with your take: by seeing it as simply a fable and nothing more. I enjoyed Robert Allen's book on Passive income much more since he is more realistic and has a handful of actual strategies and points to consider. Robert Allen also has a somewhat checkered past (declared bankruptcy) but seems to give some good advice but his book is certainly not the last book you ever need about the subject.

Kiyosaki offers some great catchy ideas and phrases, but very little practical advice. Some of the principles he lays out in Rich Dad are pretty good, but in some of his later books it just gets much more hokey, especially his stuff about real estate.

RK makes very good points in RDPD, but of course he had to make up the character to make the book interesting. Overall I did see his point. But like most authore Suze Orman, David Bach, they all have finance fluff that is marketing. Every pf book I read I walk away with something.

But you must do your own due diligence.

I can say that RK change my thoughts about living middle class suppose to being
rich
